I need to repeat polar alignment every time I move the camera to a new area of the sky. Also, the legs flex some under the weight of a Skyguider Pro with Wimberley gimbal and D750 with Nikon 200-500 attached. ![]() It was probably too windy for most tripods, but on the Accessories forum I was advised that better tripod legs (and spiders/spreaders) would provide better resistance to wind. I had a heavy bag hanging from the hook, BTW. I just took some test photos of the Orion Nebula at 500mm (20 second subs) and had to throw out half due to wind shake. However, now that I am doing more astrophotography, I am slamming into its weaknesses. I have been a booster of inexpensive tripods for general photography and use two of the MeFoto carbon fiber tripods (smaller Roadtrip and larger Globetrotter).
